It's Nana's birthday and all the children are bringing her a present.

Each one is a different colour.

What colours do you see?

From the much-loved creator of children's books comes a charming introduction to the world of colours.

About The Author

Pamela Allen is a phenomenon in the world of children's literature. For almost thirty years her picture books have enchanted generations of children in Australia and overseas and many of her titles have won prestigious awards and commendations. She has earned classic status through the enduring popularity of her stories with the very young.

Pamela's books are full of the music of language; they are 'fragments of theatre', designed to be read aloud and shared between an adult and a child. Eight of Pamela's titles were adapted for the stage by Patch Theatre Company, and performed in the Sydney Opera House. In 2004, Grandpa and Thomas won the Children's Book Council Book of the Year Award: Early Childhood and The Potato People was named an Honour Book in the same category in 2003, and Grandpa and Thomas and the Green Umbrella was shortlisted for the same award in 2007, as was Shhh! Little Mouse in 2008. Is Your Grandmother a Goanna? won a 2008 Speech Pathology of Australia Book of the Year Award, as did Our Daft Dog Danny in 2010.

'From Pamela Allen's first publication in 1980 it was clear that here was a creator of picture books with all the glow, gesture, din and dance to capture the attention, engage the imagination, teach, show, tickle and excite small children.' Meg Sorensen, Australian Book Review

Pamela Allen lives in New Zealand with her husband.

Open up a fresh and stylish story about growing up and keeping hold of your favorite memories. As the year passes, the narrator's favorite dress goes through a series of creative changes, from dress to shirt to tank top to scarf and so on, until all that's left of it is a good memory.

Assisted by her patient and crafty mama, the narrator finds that when disaster strikes her favorite things, she doesn't need to make mountains out of molehills-she "makes molehills out of mountains" instead! Structured around the days of the week, the story is also illustrated to show the passing of the seasons, a perfect complement to the themes of growing older and keeping hold (and letting go) of special mementos.

About the Author

Boni Ashburn is the author of Hush, Little Dragon and Over at the Castle. She lives in Houghton, Michigan, with her husband and their four children.

Click here for more details or to buy The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse THE ARTIST WHO PAINTED A BLUE HORSE by Eric Carle

'I am an artist...' begins Eric Carle's vibrant tribute to the creative life. And just like an imaginative child, this is one artist who paints the world as he sees it-a red crocodile, an orange elephant, a purple fox, a black polar bear (!) and a wonderful polka-dotted donkey. Filled with some of the most magnificently colourful animals of Eric Carle's career, this is a book that celebrates imagination and the artist within us all.

Inspired by the work of the great Expressionist painter Franz Marc, a founder of the artists' group known as Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider), who famously used abstract blue horses in his paintings. Marc's vibrantly colourful paintings influenced generations of artists, and fired the imaginations of children's book artists far and wide. Examples of Marc's paintings and a short biography are included at the end of the book.

About The Author

Eric Carle is acclaimed and beloved as the creator of brilliantly illustrated and innovatively designed picture books for very young children. His best-known work, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has eaten its way into the hearts of literally millions of children all over the world and has been translated into more than 25 languages and sold over twelve million copies. Since the Caterpillar was published in 1969, Eric Carle has illustrated more than sixty books, many best sellers, most of which he also wrote.

BUMBLE-ARDY
Click here for more details or to buy Bumble-Ardy BUMBLE-ARDY by Maurice Sendak′

BUMBLE-ARDY is a glorious picture book about a mischievous pig who has reached the age of nine without ever having had a birthday party. But all that changes when Bumble throws a party for himself and invites all his friends, leading to a wild masquerade that quickly gets out of hand.

In this highly anticipated book, Maurice Sendak once again explores the exuberance of young children and the unshakeable love between parent (in this case, an aunt) and child. BUMBLE-ARDY is the first book illustrated and written by Sendak since OUTSIDE OVER THERE in 1981.

About the Author

This outstanding American illustrator and author was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1928, the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland. Sendak′s career as an illustrator began after a stint as a window dresser. He illustrated more than 40 books between 1951 and 1962. Where the Wild Things Are - the book that made Sendak′s name internationally, appeared in 1964, and its popularity has never waned.
