Starring: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried

Andrew says: From the director of The King's Speech comes arguably the finest adaptation of Victor Hugo's timeless novel of hope, love and obsession.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption - a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Les Miserables is the movie adaptation from Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper. Based on the global stage sensation seen by more than 65 million people in 42 countries and 22 languages - and still breaking box-office records around the globe.

Andrew says: It's the series that has everybody talking. So many questions to be answered. Will Matthew and Mary make it up the aisle? And Season 3 has an ending you'll never forget...

Set in 1920 as England recovers from The Great War, the epic third series sees the return of all of the much-loved characters in the sumptuous setting of Downton Abbey. The lives and loves of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them are laid bare as romance, ambition, desire and heartbreak reign in the great house. With new family members arriving and staff jostling for position, the secure, serene and ordered world of Downton is rocked by passions above and below the stairs. In the precarious post-war landscape nothing is safe, and as a wave of financial uncertainty engulfs the country, the Crawleys face a battle to safeguard their beloved home.

CAGE FOREVER AFTER?
Cage-ShrekIn the long and chequered history of Hollywood might-have-beens, this is a doozy. One particular 49-year-old actor turned down the role of the giant green ogre, Shrek, because the character was simply too ugly.

The star? None other than mister hairpiece himself, Nicolas Cage. The role ended up going to Canadian comedian Mike Myers instead.

Nic told the Daily Mail, "We were talking about Shrek and I just didn't want to look like an ogre."

Of course, this rationale flies in the face of the moral of the tale, which is that looks don't matter - it's what's on the inside that counts. The franchise has since gone on to gross more than a billion dollars.

"Maybe I should have done it looking back," Nic said. Yeah, no kidding.

It's even more baffling given some of Nic Cage's roles over the years.

Nic is finally taking a stab at a DreamWorks animated feature film, with a role as a caveman in The Croods. It looks like Nic's finally letting go of vanity in his later years.

With universal themes of first love, crushing loss, secret fear and shared dreams, Stephen Chboskys acclaimed novel is one of the most revered and influential coming of age stories ever: and now he has created one of the most highly anticipate adaptations in years.
